Peace Celebrations, Moscow, 1945
Born into a wealthy family, Claude Francis Barry (English, 1883–1970) was exhibiting his work with the Royal Academy in London by the time he was twenty-three. Success followed him in shows with the Royal Society of British Artists, the Society of Scottish Artists, and the Salon des Artistes Français. He was trained in England in the Newlyn school of realist paintings, but his style was constantly evolving. His early narrative oils gave way to experimentation with pointillism and vorticism, and he refined his use of line and form as he moved toward abstraction. His etchings won major awards in France and Italy, but color was always his passion.
Thoughtfully conceived and engagingly intricate, our interlocking jigsaw puzzles combine superb color reproduction, stunning and unusual images, and sturdy construction to delight generations of novice and veteran puzzleworkers.
